Byzantine Era Seal : Legend in Two Lines

Byzantine Era Lead(?) Seal

The seal shows a legend in two lines. The leftmost picture is the seal as you look at it (although actually upside down it is easier to see in this way). The center pic is the reverse cone, and the rightmost picture is a mirror image of the seal as it would appear on a document. The mirror image pic shows the seal would reads C-I / E-(phi)-(epsilon).

The typical lead seal can just be brushed off and show detail but this one was completely encrusted when I bought it many years ago. I just recently let is sit in lemon juice for a week and at that point the crust came off leaving a very nice and bright surface. Not sure it is 100% lead as it is 16mm x 14mm and only weighs 5.7gms. A comparable size lead seal weighed about 7.3gms. It very well may have some coin silver in it.
